Is there "a thing" that's uniquely you?
That thing that, if somebody saw it for the first time, they'd do a double-take, try to be polite, but would secretly wonder...what the...?
For me, that's slippers.
I wear slippers at home. Like, all the time. And it generally doesn't matter what season it is.
But I’ve got my reasons, and they go well beyond keeping my feet warm.
See, I’m big on routines, big on habits. And while the point of this post is not to go down that rabbit hole (again), my wearing slippers has a whole lot to do with it.
The longer I work, the more difficult I find it to separate work and life.
Terms like work-life balance and work-life integration have found their way into the 21st Century vernacular, and have made themselves comfortable.
And while people talk about it, they rarely, if ever, seem to do something about it.
And what I mean by this is, make the terms come to life, so we can improve the way we live. Quality of life is something we should all strive towards, and never stop.
So, yeah, I wear slippers.
And wear a shirt and tie to work every day, and often a suit.
And there’s a mental switch, to help distinguish who and when I am at home versus, at work.
At work, I’m professional.
And at home, I’m me.
Wearing my slippers.
