Refilling the Tank (63/365)

Is there enough "in the tank" to get us where we need to go?


There are times when I keep my tank half full, and times when I run on fumes.


There are also times when...I've neglected to check the gauge, and have run out of gas.


Can you relate? (Thanks for the ride!)


The last week of August is draining. Physically, mentally, emotionally, it's long been a period I can mark on my calendar, knowing it will demand "extra", in nearly every facet of life.


If you are a teacher, administrator, parent, or student, you can relate.


"Back to school" season is here.


A blend of nervous anticipation and excitement shows up in unique ways for each of us.





How can we ensure that our "tanks are full" so we can take others the places we need to go?


One way to "fuel up" is to jot down reasons you’re proud of yourself.


It takes five minutes.


Here are my five reasons (themes of which I've written for the last 60 or so days).

  1. I’ve committed to living purpose-driven life, and am taking daily actions (“casting votes”) towards the type of person I’m becoming.

  2. I’m honoring my physical, mental, and emotional well-being, with my choices and actions.

  3. I’m grateful for all I have and stay true to myself and my values, even (especially) through times I find challenging.

  4. I’m living a life in service to others. And when I find I’m not, I’m forgiving of myself and realize I am one decision away from getting right back on track.

  5. I’m still going. And still growing.


Try it. Jot it down. Keep it to yourself or share it. Read it again. Reflect. Repeat tomorrow.
